Creation time informs retrieval of relevant documents

Similar to how backlinks are a proxy for how “fundamental” a note is, time can also inform the search for core items. If a document was created in a certain region of semantic space (e.g. the original transformers paper), only to be followed by a bunch of new documents in the same region soon afterwards (e.g. papers applying transformers to low-hanging fruit tasks), then it could be labeled as “pioneering” and “relevant.”
